When you refer a patient to us, rest assured that we treat them as if they were our own. Our goal is to provide your clients with a seamless experience that feels like a natural extension of your practice.

  • Schedule an Appointment

    Have your staff call us at ‪(703) 594-1308‬ to schedule an appointment or have your client simply schedule directly on our website.

  • Send Patient Records

    Send us records and relevant pictures of the case via email or use the rVetLink referral tool. The link below will help for case signalment.

  • Receive Your Report

    After working up the case, diagnosing a problem, and recommending a treatment plan, we will provide a readout for your patient's record.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the more common questions that we receive. As always, please feel free to reach out with any other questions.

  • To refer a patient simply submit your request online or give us a call.

    Please also submit medical history and lab work for at least the last year whenever possible. If you have any questions or need to call in the information please feel free to do so.

  • If you feel that a patient needs to be seen immediately due to the severity of skin lesions or pain, please call us at (703) 594-1308‬. One of our dermatologists may be able to assist you in determining the best course of action for your patient.

  • No, patients may continue current medications if they are needed to keep the pet comfortable. When possible, try to avoid adding new medications in the few days prior to the referral appointment.

  • While withdrawal times may vary from patient to patient, the following are general guidelines:

    • Topical corticosteroids - Betagen spray, topical ear meds – 2-4 weeks depending on length of therapy

    • Long acting ear meds - 4 weeks

    • Oral corticosteroids (Prednisone, Temaril P etc.) - 4 weeks

    • Short acting injectable corticosteroids (Dexamethasone, Vetalog, Kenalog) - 4 weeks

    • Long acting injectable corticosteroids (DepoMedrol) – 8-12 weeks

    • Antihistamines (Benadryl, Zyrtec, Hydroxyzine etc.) 1-2 weeks

    • Apoquel – no withdrawal but do not give the day of the test

    • Atopica (cyclosporine) – no withdrawal

    • Cytopoint - no withdrawal but prefer not to be given 1 week prior to the test

  • Please ask your clients not to bathe their pet 1 week prior to referral, bring a list of all medications and diets being given to the pet and allow ample time for thorough discussion and assessment of their pet during their referral appointment.
